TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Four Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology student-athletes in four sports were honored as Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Players of the Week for their efforts last weekend.
Rose-Hulman honorees included junior Matt Murray as Football Special Teams Player of the Week; junior Gabi Razma as Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week; freshman Rebecca Su as Women's Golf Player of the Week; and freshman Anna Thompson as Women's Tennis Player of the Week.
Murray averaged 48 yards on five punts in the Fightin' Engineers 26-14 football victory over Millikin on Saturday. He placed three punts inside the Millikin 20-yard line, and he also kicked off five times for a 56.2 yard average, including one touchback.
Razma contributed 77 digs in 14 sets, while tallying a team-high of 5.50 digs per set, to help Rose-Hulman finish 3-1 last week. Her efforts include 27 digs in a five-set loss to Coe College. Razma also had 19 digs in a three-set victory over Benedictine.
Su finished fifth at the Hanover invitational, firing a nine-hole score of 40 and an 18-hole score of 83 in two days of action. Her efforts helped Rose-Hulman finish third overall as a team.
Thompson helped Rose-Hulman sweep Transylvania in its HCAC opener with wins at No. 1 singles and doubles. Thompson won at No. 1 singles after posting a 6-1, 6-0, and at No. 1 doubles with an 8-0 victory.
The football team (1-1) travels to Hanover on Saturday. The volleyball team (3-5) hosts St. Mary-of-the-Woods in its home opener on Wednesday at 7 pm. The women's golf team hosts the Rose-Hulman Invitational at Hulman Links this weekend, and women's tennis returns to the court Wednesday night at home against Franklin.
