TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology student-athletes earned a pair of Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Week honors, in results released Monday by the league office.
Hill earned his first Runner of the Week award in 2016 after earning first place in a dual meet against DePauw University on Friday at the Lavern Gibson Championship Course. The mechanical engineering major paced the field of runners by completing the eight-kilometer course in 27:07.
Hill is the defending HCAC individual champion in men's cross country after running a time of 25:39 at the 2015 conference meet.
Murray claimed his second Special Teams Player of the Week award in 2016. His efforts helped Rose-Hulman defeat Defiance 23-15 on Saturday, scoring points on a 29-yard field and two extra points.
The chemical engineering and mathematics double major also booted five punts for a 36.2 yard average, highlighted by two kicks inside the Defiance 20-yard line. He also had five kickoffs with a pair of touchbacks.
The football team improved to 3-1 (2-0 HCAC) and hosts Anderson in the annual Homecoming Game on Saturday at 2 p.m. The men's cross country team returns to action on Oct. 8 at Principia.
