Hogan, Wells Named HCAC Players of the Week

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology earned a pair of Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Week awards for efforts in last week's victories.

Junior Stanley Hogan III was named Football Offensive Player of the Week, and freshman Jessica Wells claimed her second Women's Soccer Player of the Week honor of 2016.

Hogan came off the bench to rush for a career-high 121 yards on a career-high 33 carries in Rose-Hulman's 23-22 victory at No. 14 ranked Franklin College on Saturday.  His efforts included the game winning one-yard touchdown run to the pylon with 21 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter.

The win marked Rose-Hulman's first football victory over a nationally ranked team since 1993 and the first home loss for Franklin in conference play since 2009.  Rose-Hulman improved to 6-2 overall and 5-1 in conference play with the win.

Wells scored her seventh and eighth goals of the season to help Rose-Hulman knock Mount St. Joseph from the ranks of the conference unbeatens 2-1 on Thursday night.  Her goals marked the first scores allowed by Mount St. Joseph during the 2016 conference season.

The women's soccer team secured a bid to the HCAC Tournament with the victory.  Rose-Hulman stands 11-5 and 6-1 in conference play after defeating Mount St. Joseph and receiving a forfeit win over Bluffton last week.

The football team returns home to face Bluffton on Saturday at 1:30 p.m.  Women's soccer closes its regular season schedule at Franklin on Wednesday and at Hanover on Saturday.
