TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology improved to 13-5 overall and 6-1 in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference baseball action with a 9-0 victory over Anderson University on Tuesday night at Art Nehf Field.
Senior Alec McNally tossed seven shutout innings to lead the team's fourth shutout of the season. McNally scattered seven hits and struck out five, before Gunnar Hutchison and Cody Sunderhaus tossed one scoreless inning each in the win.
Freshman David Burnside led the Fightin' Engineer offense with two hits, including a double, and three runs scored.
Senior Josh Koutnik added two singles and two RBIs, and senior Caleb Kissel also had two singles. Senior Kody Alayon pitched in with a single, two runs scored and two RBIs to balance the offensive effort.
Rose-Hulman jumped out to an early lead with two runs in the third and three more in the fourth. The Fightin' Engineers added four insurance runs in the sixth inning to secure the victory.
Rose-Hulman improved to 13-5 overall and 6-1 in HCAC play, while Anderson dropped to 6-13 and 3-4. The Engineers travel to North Central College on Thursday.
