TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology relied on an 8-run third inning rally to earn a convincing 12-4 win over Anderson University in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference baseball action on Wednesday night at Art Nehf Field.
Rose-Hulman pounded out eight hits in its 8-run third inning rally to take a 9-0 lead. Davis Robeson, Logan Schiessle, David Burnside and Zach Trusk led the Fightin' Engineer effort with run scoring singles in the outburst.
Trusk led Rose-Hulman's 15-hit attack with four hits, including a double, with two RBIs and one runs scored. Conner Shipley added a 2-3 performance with three walks and two runs scored in the leadoff spot. Burnside pitched in with two hits, four runs scored and three RBIs. Drew Schnitz added two hits with one run scored.
Rose-Hulman's offense was patient, drawing 10 walks on the evening. On the mound, Luke Buehler picked up the win by allowing three runs on seven hits with four strikeouts in six innings of work. Three relief pitchers tossed one shutout inning each.
Rose-Hulman improved to 2-2 in HCAC play, while Anderson dropped to 1-3 in conference games. The Fightin' Engineers return to action with a three-game weekend home series against Hanover, starting Friday at 6 p.m.
