TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology senior offensive lineman T.J. Demos was part of a dramatic victory in the seventh annual Tazón de Estrellas (Bowl Game of the Stars) in Baja, Mexico, on Saturday.
Demos was part of Team Stars & Stripes in a matchup against the CONADEIP All-Stars on Saturday. CONADEIP built a 14-0 lead over Team Stars & Stripes, before the United States squad rallied with two touchdowns in the final 9:30 to win the game.
Illinois College quarterback Brady Huber connected on a 16-yard touchdown pass to Josh Peach to bring the deficit to 14-7. With 24 seconds left, Huber connected with George Vidas on a three-yard pass to make the score 14-13. Electing to go for the win, Huber hit Matt McDaniels with a two-point conversion to lift Team Stars & Stripes to a 15-14 victory.
Demos served as an offensive lineman for the squad, and capped his career with a victory.
Demos was one of 43 players from 27 NCAA Division III insitutions who competed on Team Stars & Stripes against the CONADEIP All-Star Teams selected from private universities in Mexico. The contest took place at the Margarita Astiazrán de Fimbres Stadium in Baja, Mexico.
Demos earned first-team all-Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference honors this season and was also selected third-team all-North Region by d3football.com earlier this week. His efforts helped Rose-Hulman finish 8-2 overall this season.
Demos was joined on the roster by four players he squared off against during the 2015 season. The list includedHuber, Kalmazoo players Octavius Sanders and Dylan Zerki, and Hanover defensive lineman Jake Stilwell.
Rose-Hulman's most recent participant in the Tazón de Estrellas all-star game was quarterback Ryan Landwehr following the 2013 season.
