TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology junior defensive end Mike Riley has been named to the D3football.com Team of the Week, presented by Scoutware, in results released by the national website on Tuesday.
Riley becomes the 19th Fightin' Engineer named to the D3football.com Team of the Week in the 19-year history of the program and the third this season. Teammates Kaelen Garner (Illinois College) and John Kirby (Hanover) were selected to the D3football.com Team of the Week after their efforts during the team's first two victories this season.
Riley set a Rose-Hulman single-game school record with five sacks in the team's 37-14 win over Defiance on Saturday. The software engineering major currently ranks No. 1 in all of NCAA football (FBS, FCS, Division II, Division III) with 11 sacks this season and 2.75 sacks per game.
On the season, Riley has tallied 24 total tackles, 12.5 tackles-for-loss, 11 sacks and one fumble recovery. His career total stands at 15.5 sacks entering this week's action.
Rose-Hulman stands 3-1 on the season and 2-0 in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference play. The Fightin' Engineers travel to Anderson University this Saturday at 1:30 p.m. for a road matchup.
