TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology senior Matt Murray has been named Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Special Teams Player of the Week for the second time this season after a strong performance against Defiance College on Saturday.
Murray finished 4-5 on extra points and hit a 30-yard field goal to help the Fightin' Engineers earn a 37-14 victory over Defiance. He averaged 48.4 yards per punt on five boots, with two kicks landing inside the 20-yard line. Murray also kicked off three times for a 57.3-yard average per kick.
The honor marks the sixth time in Murray's career that he has been named HCAC Special Teams Player of the Week. He was named a CoSIDA Academic All-American and the HCAC Special Teams Player of the Year in 2016.
Rose-Hulman puts a 3-1 record and a 2-0 HCAC mark on the line at Anderson University on Saturday at 1:30 p.m.
