Men's Basketball Gives Back to the Community

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Members of the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology men's basketball team volunteered at Riley Elementary School this past Friday as part of the annual Rose-Hulman Day of Service.  The Fightin' Engineers helped run Riley's PTO Fund Raising "Fall Festival".

Every year, hundreds of RHIT students participate in the Day of Service which is slated for Saturday November 22, however, the men's basketball team got the job started early Friday night.

"It is great to get out in the community and spend time interacting and playing games with local kids.  Sometimes I think we have more fun being a part of the festival than they do," said senior Mechanical Engineering major Chris Schenck, a graduate of Terre Haute North Vigo High School and a product of the Vigo County School Corporation.

The men were back in the gym Saturday morning preparing for their upcoming exhibition game with Indiana State on November 3.  Regular season action will open up on November 19 when the Fightin' Engineers travel to Birmingham, Ala. to play the host Birmingham Southern in the first of a two game tournament.
