Men's Basketball Moves to 7-5 in the HCAC

BLUFFTON, Ohio - The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology men's basketball team defeated Bluffton University by final score of 78-62 on Saturday afternoon to cap a 2-0 week in Heartland Conference action.  On Wednesday RHIT knocked off league-leading Hanover 73-68.

Bluffton scored the first basket of the contest but once Rose-Hulman took a 4-2 lead at the 17:21 mark, the Fightin' Engineers never looked backed.  The men led for the remainder of the half and led for the remainder of the game.  The Fightin' Engineers enjoyed their largest lead of the afternoon, 21 points, at the 4:00 mark of the second half.  

Leading a balanced attack for Rose-Hulman was sophomore Charlie Aimone. Aimone led all scorers with 21 points.  The 6'6" wing also added seven rebounds and two assists.  Freshman John Czarnecki also had a strong game for Rose, finishing with 12 points and seven rebounds. Senior Collin Wojcik added 10 points, seven assists, and five rebounds off the bench.  14 different Engineers scored in the game.

In the win Rose-Hulman shot 55.9% (33-59) from the floor.  The Fightin' Engineers also shot a healthy percentage from three-point territory, making 46.2% (6-13) of their three-point field goal attempts.  The Fightin' Engineers assisted on 22 of the 33 made field goal attempts in the game. Rose-Hulman also outrebounded Bluffton 33-24. 

With the win the men improved to 9-10 and 7-5 against Heartland opponents.  On Wednesday February 1 RHIT will host Franklin College at 7:30 p.m. in Hulbert Arena.
