Men's Golf Places 5th in HCAC Championships


WABASH, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology men's golf team came home fifth in the 72-hole Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships, which concluded on Sunday at Honeywell Golf Course.

Senior Sanders Park led Rose-Hulman's performance with a 12th place overall finish.  Park fired rounds of 73, 81, 84 and 73 over the four-day event.

Junior Es Wittayakom came home 13th overall with scores of 78, 77, 83 and 74.  Junior Sam Pastoriza came home third among Engineers and 16th overall with rounds of 77, 78, 83 and 76.

Junior Luke Peoples finished 27th in the event with scores of 78, 84, 91 and 79.  Senior Warren Whithaus added a 28th place finish with rounds of 82, 87, 78 and 86.

Transylvania defended its team championship with scores of 297-300-306-307 for 1,210 total.  Mont St. Joseph, Hanover, Defiance and Rose-Hulman rounded out the top five.  Franklin, Manchester and Anderson rounded out the overall field.

The event featured two rounds at the par-72 Shadowood Golf Course and two rounds at the par-71 Honeywell Golf Course.
