TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology senior Ben Lyon has been named Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Men's Soccer Player of the Week for his efforts in last week's two victories.
Lyon scored one of the biggest goals in Rose-Hulman history to help the Fightin' Engineers upset No. 7 ranked Wheaton College (Ill.) on Saturday at the Engineer Intramural Field. His score in the fifth minute of the second overtime propelled Rose-Hulman to a 1-0 win that marked the team's second ever victory over a top-10 foe.
Lyon also found the back of the net in Rose-Hulman's season opening 2-0 win over Principia last week. He also ranks 10th in school history with 21 career goals.
The Fightin' Engineers are 2-0 entering tonight's matchup at Greenville College. Rose-Hulman will also travel to Carroll (Wis.) and Milwaukee School of Engineering this weekend.
