Men's Soccer Handles Franklin 4-0

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology scored three second half goals to top Franklin College 4-0 and improved to 8-0 in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference men's soccer action this season on a rainy Wednesday night at the Engineer Intramural Field.

Junior Austin Webb scored two second half goals, and the Fightin' Engineers scored two goals exactly one minute apart to spark the win.

Senior Brad Rostron opened the scoring in the 35th minute, scoring on a pass from junior Turner Perkins.  Rose-Hulman outshot Franklin 10-1 in the opening 45 minutes of action.

In the second half, Webb scored in the 52nd minute on a pass from Dieter Schultz.  Rose-Hulman pushed the lead to 4-0 with two goals in a one-minute span.  Trevor Bednarek scored unassisted at 77:35, before Webb finished the scoring with a goal at 78:35 on a pass from Lucas Kesterson.

Rose-Hulman outshot Franklin 18-2 overal lin the match, with Webb and Will McGowen firing a team-high three shots.  Michael Lawrence recorded the shutout in goal with two saves.

Rose-Hulman travels to Hanover College (7-1 HCAC) on Saturday in a matchup for the HCAC regular season title.  The Fightin' Engineers need a win or a draw to secure the top seed for next week's four team tournament.  Rose-Hulman will host a semifinal round game on Nov. 2 regardless of Saturday's outcome.
