Bednarek, Perkins, Webb, and Wright Lead All-HCAC Selections

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Four Engineers were selected to the All-Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference 1st Team, and another three picked up All-HCAC 2nd Team honors on Thursday afternoon for their outstanding play during the 2017 season.  Trevor Bednarek, Turner Perkins, Carter Wright, and Austin Webb were all selected to the All-HCAC 1st Team.

Bednarek, a senior from Muskego, Wisc., started all 20 games this season.  For his career, Bednarek made 66 starts and appeared in 74 contests.  He was Rose-Hulman's top defender and anchored a defense that allowed just 14 goals all season long. 

Turner Perkins earned his third straight All-HCAC 1st Team selection on Thursday.  Perkins started all 83 games in his RHIT career.  His 83 games played in rank third in school history.  He tallied nine career goals, four career assists, and 22 career points.  Perkins scored Rose's lone goal in regulation in the 2017 HCAC Semifinals against Hanover and then nailed the game-clinching penalty kick propelling the Fightin' Engineers to their fifth straight HCAC Title game. 

Senior goalie Carter Wright was also tabbed to the All-HCAC 1st Team.  Wright allowed just nine goals this season and ranked third in the HCAC with an .830 save percentage.  For his career, Wright posted a 22-8-8 record and collected 141 saves.  His career goals-against average of 0.65 ranks second all-time in Rose-Hulman history.

Austin Webb rounded out the All-HCAC 1st Team selections Thursday.  Webb led Rose-Hulman with five goals, seven assists, and 17 points this season.  For his career Webb started 82 of the 83 games he appeared in.  He tallied career totals of 27 goals, 15 assists, and 69 points.  His 69 points rank sixth all-time in Rose-Hulman history.  This was Webb's third straight 1st Team selection. 

Senior defender Davis Ferriell was named to the All-HCAC 2nd Team on Thursday afternoon.  Ferriell was an important member of the Rose-Hulman defense this season and throughout his career.  Ferriell played in 43 matches and started 35 games in his Rose-Hulman career.

Junior Will McGowen also earned All-HCAC 2nd Team honors.  McGowen scored three goals and added three assists and nine points in 2017.  He scored two game-winning goals this Fall.  McGowen started all 17 games that he played in this year.

Plainfield, Indiana native Lucas Kesterson also picked up All-HCAC 2nd Team honors Thue afternoon.  Lucas played in all 20 games this season and made 12 starts.  He scored one goal this season and helped the Rose-Hulman defense allow just 14 goals in 2017.

Freshman Ethan Butler earned Honorable Mention All-HCAC honors in his first season in a Rose-Hulman uniform.  Butler started all 18 games he appeared in this season and he scored one goal and added one assist. 

Cobi Illian rounded out the HCAC postseason honors for Rose-Hulman as he was named to the HCAC Sportsmanship team.  Illian played in 19 games and scored one goal.  He also added two assists in 2017.
