ORLANDO, Fla. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology completed a 5-1 spring trip to Florida and improved to 6-3 on the season by sweeping Capital 7-2 and Wartburg 9-0 on Wednesday.
Rose-Hulman returns to Indiana on a five-match winning streak after defeating five NCAA Division III teams and losing only to NCAA Division I Loyola (Md.) in Florida.
Against Capital, Rose-Hulman won two of the three doubles matches to take early control of the match. No. 2 team Cam Metzger and Andre Adam, and No. 3 squad Matt Conrad and Joe Kendall picked up the wins.
In the nightcap, the same three doubles teams won by 8-1, 8-2 and 8-1 margins to start a strong performance. Singles winners included Benedict, Andre Adam, Conrad, Schiffman, Brendan Goldacker and Kendall.
Rose-Hulman stands 6-3 on the spring season and improved the program's overall record to over the .500 for the first time in school history. The Fightin' Engineers return to action with home matches against Franklin and Manchester on March 12 and March 13.
