Men's Tennis Splits Two Weekend Matches


TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology stands 9-4 on the men's tennis season after splitting a pair of matches this weekend.

The Fightin' Engineers defeated Trine University 9-0 to extend its winning streak to eight matches, before falling to NCAA Division I Butler 7-0 on Sunday.  Rose-Hulman now stands at 9-4 with its two most recent losses coming to NCAA Division I programs in Loyola (Md.) and Butler.

Against Trine, Rose-Hulman started the day with a sweep of three doubles matches.  Winners included Georges Adam and Brandon Benedict at No. 1; Andre Adam and Cam Metzger at No. 2; and Joe Kendall and Matt Conrad at No. 3 to propel the victory.

In singles play, Georges Adam, Benedict, Andre Adam, Conrad, Andrew Schiffman and Brendan Goldacker all earned wins on the afternoon.

In the Butler match, Andre Adam and Conrad extended their opponents to three sets before falling in match tiebreakers.

Rose-Hulman returns to action on Saturday with matches against NCAA Division III foes Coe and Wartburg in a pair of matches in Iowa.
