Men's Tennis Splits Two Matches in Iowa

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology men's tennis team split two matches in Iowa on Saturday.

The Fightin' Engineers earned an 11-1 victory over Wartburg on Saturday afternoon, after falling 8-1 to No. 36 ranked Coe College on Saturday morning.

Rose-Hulman winners against Wartburg included Georges Adam, Brandon Benedict, Cam Metzger, Andre Adam, Matt Conrad and Brendan Goldacker in singles play.  In doubles matches, Georges Adam and Benedict, Metzger and Andre Adam, and Conrad and Joe Kendall were winning teams.

Against Wartburg, the coaching staff agreed to count the three additional junior varsity matches to the team score.  Jacob Pluta added a singles win for the Fightin' Engineers.

Earlier in the day, nationally ranked Coe improved to 15-2 with the victory over Rose-Hulman.  Georges Adam and Benedict earned Rose-Hulman's point with a win at No. 1 doubles.

Rose-Hulman stands 10-5 on the season and faces Hanover and Anderson on April 2.
