TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology men's tennis team completed a doubleheader sweep of two Saturday Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference matches by defeating Hanover 8-1 and Anderson 5-0.
With the victories, Rose-Hulman improved to 12-5 overall and 4-0 in HCAC play. The first place Fightin' Engineers have won 11 of their last 12 matches against NCAA Division III competition.
Against Hanover, Rose-Hulman swept the three doubles matches to start the match strong. Georges Adam and Brandon Benedict won 8-2 at the No. 1 position, Andre Adam and Cam Metzger won 8-6 at No. 2, and Joe Kendall teamed with Matt Conrad for an 8-3 win at No. 3.
In singles play, Rose-Hulman won at the first five flights to secure the 8-1 win. Winners included Georges Adam, Benedict, Metzger, Andre Adam and Conrad.
Against Anderson, the Fightin' Engineers battled the elements to defeat Anderson 5-0. After sweeping three doubles matches, snow fell at Anderson and the final two matches were completed on one indoor court.
In singles play, Metzger earned a 6-1, 6-2 victory and Andre Adam won 6-2, 6-0.
Rose-Hulman will complete the weekend by hosting NCAA Division II Southern Indiana on Sunday at noon at the Joy Hulbert Tennis Center.
