LEXINGTON, Ky. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology men's tennis team completed a perfect Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference regular season schedule and secured the top seed for next week's league tournament with an 8-1 victory over Transylvania University on Saturday night.
The Fightin' Engineers won all six singles matches and captured 2-of-3 doubles matches on the evening. Doubles team winners included Georges Adam and Brandon Benedict at No. 1, and Cam Metzger and Andre Adam at No. 2.
The Fightin' Engineers completed their second consecutive undefeated HCAC regular season and extended their winning streak against league competition to 18 matches since 2014 with the victory. Rose-Hulman also seeks its second consecutive trip to the NCAA Division III Tournament after earning the third regular season title in program history.
Rose-Hulman improved to 18-8 overall and completed an 8-0 regular season with Saturday's win. Transylvania stands 5-6 overall and 5-2 in league play. The Fightin' Engineers have earned the No. 1 seed for the conference tournament and will open the event with a semifinal matchup on May 7 at 1 p.m. at West Indy Racquet Club.
