INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology securing its second consecutive NCAA Division III Tournament appearance by winning the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament championship match 5-0 over Transylvania University on Sunday at West Indy Racquet Club.
Rose-Hulman opened the day by sweeping its three doubles matches. The No. 1 team of Georges Adam and Brandon Benedict earned an 8-0 victory, the No. 2 squad of Andre Adam and Cam Metzger won 8-3, and the No. 3 team of Matt Conrad and Joe Kendall claimed a 9-8 (7-4) win.
In singles play, Benedict and Metzger secured the NCAA Division III Tournament appearance with straight set singles victories.
The Fightin' Engineers will enter the NCAA Division III Tournament with a 20-8 record for the first 20-win season in program history. Rose-Hulman won its second straight regular season title, secured its second consecutive HCAC Tournament championship, and extended its winning streak against conference foes to 20 straight matches with Sunday's result.
Rose-Hulman will learn its NCAA Division III Tournament site and opponent on Monday approximately noon.
