FRANKLIN, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology opened its Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference men's tennis season with a 9-0 win over Franklin College, after falling 6-3 to Wabash College on Saturday.
Rose-Hulman stands 8-5 overall and won its 23rd consecutive match against league competition with the Franklin victory.
Against Franklin, all six singles players won in straight sets. Winners included Georges Adam, Brandon Benedict, Cam Metzger, Andre Adam, Austin Perry and Brendan Goldacker. The doubles team of Benedict and Georges Adam, Metzger and Andre Adam, and Perry with Joe Kendall completed the sweep.
In a 6-3 loss to Wabash in the opener, Georges Adam contributed to two of the team's three wins. Adam won in three sets at No. 1 singles, and teamed with Benedict for a win at No. 1 doubles. The team of Metzger and Andre Adam added the remaining point with a win at No. 2 doubles.
Rose-Hulman returns to action in its home opener on Saturday April 1 against Transylvania University at noon.
