TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology men's tennis team has earned team and individual recognition in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association NCAA Division III Central Region Rankings, in the latest polls released on Tuesday.
Rose-Hulman is ranked No. 15 in the ITA Central Region, which is one of just four tennis regions in the nation. Senior Georges Adam is ranked No. 17 in singles play, and the doubles duo of Adam and Brandon Benedict stand No. 9 in the latest regional rankings.
Rose-Hulman stands 15-7 so far this season, with one loss to a Division I squad, two losses to nationally ranked NCAA Division II teams and three more to nationally ranked NCAA Division III teams.
Individually, Adam is 18-6 on the season and has improved to 59-25 in his career. His 59 career wins ranks third in Rose-Hulman school history and his career winning percentage of .702 ranks fifth all-time. In doubles play, his 69 wins rank No. 2 just behind Benedict while his winning percentage of .726 is No. 1.
Benedict has a career singles record of 65-27 to rank No. 1 in school history in singles wins. His winning percentage of .707 in singles play stands No. 4 all-time. He holds the career school record with 70 doubles wins and ranks No. 2 all-time in doubles winning percentage at .722.
Rose-Hulman returns to action on Saturday, traveling to Defiance for a pair of matches. The Fightin' Engineers face Defiance on Saturday morning, then battle Ohio Wesleyan on Saturday afternoon.
