INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology advanced to the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Men's Tennis Tournament championship match with a 7-0 win over Anderson University on Saturday at West Indy Racquet Club.
Rose-Hulman will face either No. 2 seeded Earlham on Sunday at 10 a.m. for the HCAC Tournament title. The winner will advance to the NCAA Division III Tournament. Earlham advanced with a 5-2 victory over No. 3 seeded Hanover. Rose-Hulman seeks its third straight trip to the NCAA Division III Tournament on Sunday.
Rose-Hulman won its three doubles matches 8-1, 8-0 and 8-0 to enjoy a quick start. Winning teams included Georges Adam with Brandon Benedict at No. 1; Andre Adam with Cam Metzger at No. 2; and Austin Perry with Joe Kendall at No. 3.
In singles play, the Fightin' Engineers relied on straight-set victories by Georges Adam at No. 1; Metzger at No. 3; Perry at No. 5; and Andrew Schiffman at No. 6. The remaining two matches were unfinished at the time the match was decided.
The Rose-Hulman men seek to join the women's team in the NCAA Division III Tournament that starts next week. The women's team won the HCAC Tournament title last fall, defeating Hanover 5-4 at West Indy Racquet Club.
