TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology men's tennis team nearly earned its first victory over an NCAA Division I program with a narrow 5-4 loss to Eastern Illinois University on Saturday at the Wabash Valley Tennis Center.
Rose-Hulman earned victories at the No. 1 singles, No. 2 singles, No. 3 singles and No. 1 doubles positions in the strong performance. Winners included Ian Landwehr in three sets at No. 1 singles; Cam Metzger in three sets at No. 2 singles; and Andre Adam in straight sets at No. 3 singles.
The team of Adam and Metzger earned an 8-5 win at No. 1 doubles for Rose-Hulman's first point of the match.
Rose-Hulman dropped to 4-6 overall but carries a 4-1 mark against NCAA Division III foes. Eastern Illinois improved to 4-11 on the campaign with the victory.
