TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology earned a fourth straight trip to the NCAA Division III Tournament this past season following a successful 17-11 campaign. The Fightin' Engineers, as well as sophomore Ian Landwehr, earned spots in the final ITA rankings of the season that were released earlier this week. Rose-Hulman came in No. 18 in the ITA Central Region. Landwehr was tabbed No. 40 in the national singles rankings.
As a team, RHIT posted a 17-11 overall record and went a perfect 9-0 against Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference foes. Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology has won four straight HCAC titles and the Fightin' Engineers have won 39 straight matches against HCAC teams. Rose posted a 17-5 mark against NCAA Division III teams in 2018.
Landwehr had a banner year in his first season at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology. Landwehr came in No. 40 in the ITA national singles rankings that were released earlier this week. Ian's national ranking is the highest-ever singles ranking in program history. Landwehr went a perfect 19-0 against NCAA Division III opponents this season and earned Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Year honors. Landwehr has twice been named Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Week and was a First Team All-HCAC selection in May. Ian is a mechanical engineering major from Daleville, Indiana.
