TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology men's cross country team has been unanimously chosen as favorites to capture its third consecutive Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Championship this season, in the preseason coaches poll released on Monday.
Rose-Hulman received all 10 first place votes in the HCAC preseason poll after dominating the field in last season's championship. The Fightin' Engineers recorded seven of the top 10 finishers and return 2015 conference champion Matt Hill.
Rose-Hulman's conference championship performance included three top-five finishers, seven top-10 finishers and 10 league-wide award winners.
The 2016 season begins on Sept. 16 with a trip to the Indiana Intercollegiate Championships. Rose-Hulman will host action at the La Vern Gibson Championship Course on Sept. 23.
