EVANSVILLE, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology men's cross country team placed second overall, highlighted by defeating an NCAA Division I program, at the University of Evansville Invitational on Saturday.
Junior Alton Anspaugh led the Rose-Hulman performance by coming home second overall with a career-best mark of 25:47 that ranks 16th in school history.
Junior Matt Hill added a time of 26:20 to place fourth overall in a field of 75 runners.
NCAA Division I IPFW won the meet with 26 points, followed by Rose-Hulman with 54. Vincennes, Webster, Evansville, Oakland City and Western Kentucky Community College rounded out the team scoring.
Rose-Hulman will seek its third consecutive Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference championship when the Fightin' Engineers compete in an event at Hanover on Oct. 29.
