TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman Instutute of Technology softball team received three all-conference selections based on their efforts this season in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference. The Fightin' Engineers ended their 2016 season with a 12-20 overall record.
Senior Taylor Lockhart received a second-team all-conference selection. In the pitching circle, Lockhart lead the staff with an 8-8 record and a 1.85 earned run average. She pitched 109.2 innings for the Engineers this season and tallied 85 strikeouts.
Sophmore Jenny Miller received a Honorable Mention All-Conference selection. Miller primarily played third base for the Engineers, but also helped out the pitching staff. She led the team this season with a .352 batting average (.670 slugging) and tied her own single-season school record with seven home runs. Miller also contributed 13 extra base hits and 24 RBIs. In the circle, she held a 3.78 earned run average in 57.1 innings pitched, and tossed a no-hitter against Northwestern (Minn.).
Junior Morgan Dreyer received a spot on the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference's Sportsmanship team this season. Dreyer was the designated player, and catcher for the Fightin' Engineers. She finished the season with a .225 batting average, three home runs, and 14 RBI's.
Rose-Hulman returns to the diamond next February for the 2017 season.
