RHIT Softball Series Moved to Defiance on Saturday

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology softball doubleheader against Defiance College will be moved to Defiance on Saturday in accordance to Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference guidelines regarding projected weather.

The first game will take place at 1 p.m., with the second game at approximately 3 p.m.  Live coverage links are above.

Defiance College brings an overall record of 17-14 to the contest.  The Yellow Jackets are 4-3 in the Heartland Conference and currently sit in sixth place in the HCAC Standings.  Rose-Hulman will look to halt the Yellow Jackets' three-game winning streak on Saturday.

Offensively for Rose-Hulman, senior catcher Morgan Dreyer leads the team with a .348 batting average.  Dreyer has 31 hits this season with three doubles, two home runs and 14 RBIs.  Jessica Will leads the team with 33 hits and the junior shortstop is batting .333 in 2017.  Will also has 15 RBIs to her credit this year.  Maddie Struble and Michelle Korf lead Rose-Hulman with 18 RBIs apiece.

This marks the second time a Rose-Hulman-Defiance series has shifted locations due to the HCAC projected weather guidelines.  In 2014, Defiance came to Rose-Hulman for a twinbill that was originally scheduled for Ohio.

After Saturday's game, Rose-Hulman will return home to face Webster University on Thursday at 5:30 p.m. in the team's Go 4 the Goal Game.  Student-athletes qualifying for the Chi Alpha Sigma honor fraternity will be recognized between games of Thursday's home twinbill.
