TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology senior Orion Martin has been named the Team Unify / CollegeSwimming.com NCAA Division III Men's National Swimmer of the Week for his efforts in a dual meet win over DePauw University on Saturday.
Martin won the 100-freestyle (46.32), 100-butterfly (49.36) and 200-freestyle (1:41.90) events to help No. 16 ranked Rose-Hulman defeat No. 15 ranked DePauw 177-121 on Saturday afternoon. He also helped the 200-medley relay team earn a victory with a mark of 1:36.26.
The honor marks the second consecutive year that Martin has been named the CollegeSwimming.com NCAA Division III Men's National Swimmer of the Week.
Martin has a distinguished Rose-Hulman career that includes two NCAA Division III All-American awards, three College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Male Swimmer of the Year Awards, one CoSIDA Academic All-American award, four individual conference championships and nine individual all-conference performances. He has also helped five relay teams earn conference championships in the CCIW.
In addition, the physics and computer science double major is the individual school record holder in four events and shares five relay school records. He will enter next month's CCIW championships as the three-time defending conference champion in the 100-yard butterfly.
Rose-Hulman returns to action at the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Invitational on Saturday in Franklin, Indiana.
