TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology senior Ellie Hong has been named a preseason All-American by CollegeSwimming.com, released by the website on Tuesday.
Hong was chosen as one of 121 preseason All-Americans for NCAA Division III men's and women's swimming, and Rose-Hulman was just one of 48 institutions with at least one preseason All-America selection.
Hong has earned four career All-American honors and was a two-time All-American in 2016. She has national finishes of 4th (2016), 8th (2015) and 8th (2015) in the 200-backstroke, and placed 7th in the 100-backstroke last year. She was also an honorable mention All-American in the 100-backstroke in 2015.
Hong's career includes eight career all-College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin performances, including an event championship in the 200-backstroke in 2016. She holds four individual and five relay school records, highlighted by career-best times of 55.70 in the 100-backstroke and 1:58.77 in the 200-backstroke.
Rose-Hulman begins the men's and women's swimming and diving season with a trip to the Indiana Division III Invitational at Wabash College on Oct. 15.
