TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology senior Pierce Bartine has been named the NCAA Division III National Collegiate Swimmer of the Week by Collegeswimming.com, in results released Monday.
Bartine led the Rose-Hulman men's performance at the Indiana Division III Invitational at Wabash College on Saturday. He won two individual and two relay events as the Fightin' Engineers placed second overall as a team. Individually, Bartine won the 50-freestyle (21.51) and 100-butterfly (50.31).
The 200-medley relay team of Cam Gill, Nick Samra, Bartine and Tyler Sariscsany won in a time of 1:37.17. The 400-freestyle relay squad capped the meet with a winning time of 3:13.32 featuring Bartine, Sariscsany, Ben Stone and Nate Weber.
Bartine is a three-time all-College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin performer, with a career-best league finish of second in the 200-breaststroke in 2014. He has qualified for nine CCIW individual event finals and is a member of six conference runner-up relay teams in his Fightin' Engineer career.
Collegeswimming.com also named senior Ellie Hong as the CCIW Women's Swimmer of the Week. Hong earned first-place honors in the 100-backstroke with an impressive early season time of 59.98 seconds.
