Swimming & Diving Teams Place 2nd at HCAC Invite

FRANKLIN, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology men's and women's swimming and diving teams combined for 11 event victories as each team came home second in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Swimming Invitational at Franklin Community High School on Saturday.

Senior Pierce Bartine paced the men's performance with two event wins, and senior Ellie Hong added two wins for the women's squad.  Bartine won the 50-freeestyle in 21.69 seconds and claimed the 100-butterfly in 50.86 seconds.  Hong won the 100-backstroke (58.87) and 200-backstroke (2:10.18).

Other men's winners included Cam Gill in the 100-freestyle (47.75); Nicholas Jeronis in the 400-individual medley (4:33.15); Patrick King in the 200-butterfly (1:59.10); and Evan Meredith in the 1,650-freestyle (17:19.16).  

The men's 400-freestyle relay team of Bartine, Tyler Sariscsany, Gill and Nate Weber also finished first with a time of 3:11.38.

On the women's side, other individual winners included Bethany Lefeber in the 1,650-freestyle (19:03.05) and Michaela Kivett in three-meter dirivng (331.15 points).

Rose-Hulman returns to action with another trip to Franklin Community High School on Friday for a dual meet against the Franklin Grizzlies.
