Swimming & Diving Teams Stand Tall at DePauw; Host IWU Saturday

GREENCASTLE, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology recorded nine first-place finishes in a competitive performance at nationally ranked DePauw University on Friday night.

DePauw swept both competitions, but Rose-Hulman crossed 120 points on the men's side and 80 in the women's competition.  The Tigers are ranked No. 17 in the latest NCAA Division III men's rankings and stand No. 35 on the women's side.

Rose-Hulman combined for four men's event wins and three women's victories.  On the women's side, individual winners included Lauren Blake in the 200-freestyle (2:06.17); Bethany Lefeber in the 200-butterfly (2:25.72); and Elisa Weber in the 400-individual medley (4:53.13).  In diving, Michaela Kivett scored 216.82 points to win the three-meter competition.

On the men's side, Patrick King paced Rose-Hulman with a sweep of the 100-butterfly (54.07) and 200-butterfly (1:59.60).  Cam Gill added a victory in the 100-backstroke with a time of 53.22 seconds.

The men also had one relay win, as the team of Gill, Ethan Park, Michael Rosier and Dutch Kipp claimed the 200-medley relay in 1:37.20.  In diving, Peter Venema took top honors in three-meter with 257.03 points.

Rose-Hulman will host Illinois Wesleyan on Saturday at 1 p.m. at the SRC Natatorium.
