TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology track and field student-athletes combined for three Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference weekly awards, as announced by the league office on Tuesday.
Smith, Johnson and Green helped Rose-Hulman enjoy success in the Terre Haute Double Dual on Friday at the Sports and Recreation Center. Rose-Hulman won the men's competition over Manchester 103-22, while the women fell 69-53 to the Spartans.
Smith won three events, capturing the long jump (21' 3 1/2"), 60-meter dash (6.16), 200-meter dash (23.22) and was part of the winning 4-x-400 relay team with a mark of 3:31.09. Johnson added a win in the 400-meter dash with a mark of 1:00.21 and was part of the first-place 4-x-400 meter relay team (4:15.83).
Green cleared 15-feet in the pole vault in his initial competition of the year, earning first-place honors with a mark of 15' 0 1/4". He has won two consecutive HCAC Indoor Track and Field pole vault championships entering the 2016 season.
Rose-Hulman returns to action at the Friday Night Invitational at the Sports and Recreation Center on Friday. Field events begin at 6 p.m., with running event finals scheduled for 7 p.m.
