Men's Track & Field Unanimously Picked to Win HCAC

TERRE HAUTE, IND. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology men's track and field team has been unanimously selected as the preseason favorite to win its sixth consecutive Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Indoor Track and Field championship, in balloting by league coaches released today.

The Fightin' Engineers won their fifth straight HCAC indoor's track and field title last February, before claiming their eighth consecutive outdoor championship in May.

The women's squad was picked to finish fourth in the HCAC this season, after finishing fourth indoors and fifth outdoors in 2015.

Rose-Hulman features a squad returning 2015 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference indoor event champions Josh Hennig (400 meters); Brendon Mattiuz (800 meters); Sam Sobczak (5,000 meters); Nathan Green (pole vault); Charles Spaeth (shot put); and the 4-x-200 meter, 4-x-400 meter relay and distance medley relay teams from last season.

On the women's side, the 4-x-400 winning relay team of Christine Harper, Gabi Razma, Jaclyn Setina and Addie Johnson earned first place honors and all four runners return this season.

Rose-Hulman opened the season with 20 combined wins against Manchester in the Terre Haute Double Dual last Friday night.  The season continues with the Friday Night Invitational at the Sports & Recreation Center this weekend.
