TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Individuals from the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology men's and women's track and field teams will compete at the All-Great Lakes Elite Meet on Thursday at Ohio Wesleyan University.
The Fightin' Engineer men enter the week ranked No. 16 nationally in the latest USTFCCA Dual Meet Rankings and stand No. 5 in the USTFCCA Great Lakes Region Dual Meet Rankings. Rose-Hulman won its ninth straight Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference outdoor championship with a record 350.33 points in late April.
Individually, four Rose-Hulman performances currently rank in the NCAA Division III national top 20 so far this season. Freshman Trey Sykes ranks fourth in the men's triple jump with a leap of 47' 10 1/2". Junior Andrew Okruch stands sixth in the men's discus throw with a mark of 166' 6". Freshman Debie Gedeon ranks 19th in the women's 100-meter hurdles with a time of 14.46 seconds. Sophomore Josh Himes also stands 19th in the men's discus throw with a mark of 159' 4".
Rose-Hulman will learn which student-athletes qualify for the NCAA Division III championships on Saturday morning. The NCAA Division III Championships take place May 26-28 at Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa.
