Men's Picked 1st, Women 2nd in HCAC Preseason Poll

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – The Rose-Hulman men's indoor track and field team has been unanimously selected as the preseason favorite to win its seventh straight Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Indoor Track and Field championship, in a preseason poll of league coaches released this afternoon. 

Rose-Hulman has won six straight indoor track and field titles.  The Fightin' Engineers received all 10 votes in the preseason poll and received 100 points.  Anderson was slated second with 84 points.

Head Coach Larry Cole has earned 16 HCAC Coach of the Year honors since 2008.  Academic All-American Brendan Smyth returns for RHIT.  The senior was a first-team all-HCAC honoree last year.  Rose-Hulman swept the 4-x-200, 4-x-400, and distance medley relay championships a season ago.

The women's indoor track and field team received two first-place votes and garnered 89 points in the women's preseason poll.  Manchester was slated to finish first and received 98 points and 8 first-place votes. 

Sophomore pole vaulter Lauren London is back for the women's indoor track and field team.  London was the HCAC Women's Freshman of the Year.  Gabi Razma was a first-team all-HCAC honoree after her individual league championship in the triple jump.
