Nick Palmer Named HCAC Field Athlete of the Week

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology junior Nick Palmer has been named Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Men's Field Athlete of the Week after a strong pole vault performance at the Indiana Division III Championships.

Palmer cleared a career-best height of 15' 9 1/4" to win the pole vault championship at last weekend's meet at DePauw University.  The mark also ranks No. 16 in NCAA Division III and No. 1 in the Great Lakes Region so far this season.

Palmer has earned two runner-up finishes at the HCAC Championships in his career.  He is also a two-time all-region pole vaulter, clearing 15' 7 1/4" during the most recent indoor season.

His efforts helped Rose-Hulman win its first Indiana Division III Championships team title last weekend.  The squad will host the Rose-Hulman Twilight Meet on Friday night at the William Welch Track and Field Complex.
