TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The Fightin' Engineer men's and women's track and field teams close to the 2017 home schedule with the annual Rose-Hulman Twilight Meet on Friday night at the William Welch Track and Field Complex.
The Rose-Hulman men's squad enters the meet ranked No. 3 in the NCAA Division III Great Lakes Region rankings this week, behind only Mount Union and Calvin. The Fightin' Engineer men have a dual meet record of 69-2 between the indoor and outdoor seasons heading into Friday's meet.
The Rose-Hulman Twilight Meet is the largest of the Fightin' Engineer outdoor schedule, including 12 teams from four states. Teams will converge on Terre Haute from Indiana, Illinois, Kentucky and Ohio. Over 400 total athletes are entered into the meet.
Five Fightin' Engineers currently rank in the NCAA Division III national top 25 in their best event. Women's high jumper Jaclyn Setina has the top ranked mark at No. 9 (5' 6"). Men's top 25 performances have been achieved by Nick Palmer in the pole vault (No. 16, 15' 9 1/4"); Josh Himes in the discus (No. 21, 155' 10"); Isaiah Smith in the 400 hurdles (No. 22, 400 hurdles, 54.62 seconds); and Andrew Okruch in the discus (No. 24, 155' 8").
After Friday's Twilight Meet, the Rose-Hulman track and field teams will compete in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships on April 28-29 at Anderson University.
