TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology juniors Josh Hennig and Gabi Razma have been named the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Men's Track and Women's Field Athletes of the Week for their efforts last weekend.
Hennig and Razma made significant contributions that helped the Fightin' Engineers sweep the men's and women's team championships at the Rose-Hulman Twilight Meet on Friday night.
Hennig won the 400-meter dash and ran the anchor leg on a winning 4-x-400 meter relay that won the Rose-Hulman Twilight Meet for the Fightin' Engineers by a 199-196.5 margin. Hennig won the 400 in a time of 48.81 seconds, then ran a blistering anchor leg of 47.8 to help the 4-x-400 meter team win in a time of 3:19.22.
The award marks the third time Hennig has been named HCAC Men's Track Athlete of the Week this season, once in the indoor campaign and twice during the outdoor seasons.
Razma won two events to help propel the Fightin' Engineers to first-place team honors. Razma set a school record in the triple jump (37' 5 1/4") and also recorded the second-best long jump in school history and her personal best (17' 4 3/4") to sweep the two jumping events. She was also on the winning 4-x-400 relay team in the night's last women's event.
The award marks Razma's second HCAC Women's Field Athlete of the Week award this season, after earning the honor following the opening weekend of the outdoor campaign.
Rose-Hulman returns to action at the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships on Friday and Saturday at Anderson University.
