TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology sophomore Trey Sykes recorded the No. 5 ranked triple jump in NCAA Division III this season to lead 11 top-five finishes at the Indiana State University Twilight Meet.
Sykes tallied a mark of 48' 11" to top Division I triple jumpers and earn the event victory. The mark, which stands No. 2 in Rose-Hulman history, will most likely qualify Sykes for the NCAA Division III Outdoor Championships in late May.
The effort also included fourth-place finishers Eric Fiacable in the hammer (166' 4"); Gabi Razma in the triple jump (36' 10 1/2"); and Nathan Schrader in the javelin (162' 7"). Fifth-place Fightin' Engineer finishers were Razma in the 400 (1:01.38) and Debie Gedeon in the 100-hurdles (14.99).
Rose-Hulman will return to action at the Harrison Dillard Twilight Meet at Baldwin Wallace University on Friday.
