Rose-Hulman Track & Field Teams Picked to Sweep HCAC Titles

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – The Rose-Hulman men's and women's indoor track and field teams have been selected to sweep the 2018 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference championships, in preseason coaches polls released today by the league office.

The men's squad has won 17 consecutive HCAC indoor or outdoor track and field championships, including every indoor title since the sport became official in the HCAC in 2011.  The Rose-Hulman women narrowly finished second last season and seek their first indoor title since the inaugural 2011 meet.

Head Coach Larry Cole has earned 17 HCAC Coach of the Year honors since 2008.  The men's squad returns five indoor championships from last season, including David Borden (4-x-200, 4-x-400); Josh Hennig (4-x-200, 4-x-400, 400); Josh Himes (shot put); Aaron Lannoy (800); and Matt Hill (5,000).

On the women's side, the Fightin' Engineers return four indoor champions from the 2017 championships that were held at Rose-Hulman.  Returning league champions include Lauren London (long jump, 4-x-200); Gabi Razma (triple jump, 4-x-200); Victoria Heckenlively (4-x-200); and Jaclyn Setina (high jump).

This marks the first time in track and field program history that Rose-Hulman has been picked to win the HCAC championship on both the men's and women's sides.  Both cross country teams won the conference championship in the same season for the first time in school history last fall.

The conference championship meet takes place Saturday Feb. 17 at Anderson University.  Rose-Hulman returns to action with its home Friday Night Invitational this weekend.
