TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – On Monday, November 14, the Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College Athletic Department and the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology Athletic Department along with Brian Dorsett of Dorsett Automotive announced the creation of the Dorsett Automotive Crosstown Classic.

The Dorsett Automotive Crosstown Classic will be the new name of the annual meeting between the SMWC and RHIT women's basketball teams.  RHIT and SMWC have been battling on the court since 1995, and for the first time will now battle in the Dorsett Automotive Crosstown Classic on November 21, 2016.

"These two programs have a long and rich history that spans decades, and I am thankful to be a part of the continued growth of this game," stated SMWC head women's basketball coach Deanna Bradley. "I am excited to begin this new era of our annual matchup with Rose-Hulman, as we partner with Dorsett Automotive to continue to bring the Wabash Valley this exciting contest between crosstown rivals."

SMWC won the first 10 trophy game meetings between the two schools, and then RHIT won the next five before SMWC took the next three. RHIT is currently on a four game winning streak in the annual matchup, having won last year's contest at Rose-Hulman, 104-84. The overall series history currently stands at 14-9 in favor of SMWC.

"We've always enjoyed the excitement and atmosphere created by games between Rose-Hulman and St. Mary-of-the-Woods," said RHIT head women's basketball coach Jon Prevo. "This matchup generates enthusiasm and helps showcase the outstanding student-athletes we have on both campuses.  We appreciate the support of Dorsett Automotive and look forward to helping write a new chapter in this rivalry."

This year's inaugural Dorsett Automotive Crosstown Classic will take place on November 21 at 7 p.m. in Hamilton Arena on SMWC's Campus.

"We at Dorsett Automotive are excited about our sponsorship in the "Crosstown Classic" and look forward to the big game," stated Brian Dorsett.
