Women's Basketball Ranked No. 5 in Great Lakes Region

NCAA REGIONAL RANKINGS

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology women's basketball team remains ranked No. 5 in the NCAA Division III Great Lakes Region according to the NCAA women's basketball national committee, in the organization's second poll released on Thursday.

Rose-Hulman was also the No. 5 team in the NCAA Division III Great Lakes Region in the initial poll last week.  The final regional poll prior to NCAA selections will be released on Wednesday Feb. 22.

Rose-Hulman stands 21-3 on the season after defeating Anderson 64-48 on Wednesday night.  The game marked the seventh consecutive games that the Fightin' Engineers have held a team under 50 points.  The Fightin' Engineers rank No. 4 nationally in scoring defense, allowing just 46.0 points per game.

Rose-Hulman has won 11 consecutive games and 23 straight home games at Hulbert Arena.  The Fightin' Engineers have also secured hosting rights for the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament on Feb. 24-25.

The NCAA women's basketball national committee releases three weekly polls in advance of the NCAA Division III Tournament selection announcement on Feb. 27.  These rankings fluctuate throughout February and serve as the basis of the criteria used to choose the teams on Selection Monday.
