TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology freshman Lauren Conley has been named the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Women's Golf Player of the Week for her efforts last weekend.
Conley came home 18th out of 100 players at the Illinois Wesleyan Invitational, helping the Fightin' Engineers compile a 36-hole team scoring record of 638. She completed rounds of 79 on Saturday and 78 on Sunday as part of a team effort that included five rounds in the 70s.
The civil engineering major has averaged 82.17 strokes per round so far this season, and her round of 78 on Sunday is tied for the lowest 18-hole score on the Fightin' Engineer roster in 2017.
Rose-Hulman finished 7th of 16 teams in the event, which featured several NCAA Division III top 25 programs and is widely regarded as one of the top early season events in the nation. The Fightin' Engineers will compete at the HCAC Preview hosted by Transylvania University this weekend.
