Women's Soccer Defeats Earlham 2-1

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology women's soccer team defeated HCAC foe Earlham College 2-1 on Wednesday night at the Engineer Intramural Field.  

The women controlled possesion most of the first half and took a 1-0 lead in the 21st minute on a goal from freshman Jessica Wells.  Madeline Romeo picked up her team leading fourth assist.

However, Earlham answered before halftime in the 36th minute when Cherrah Barclay's shot deflected past the reach of goalie Carli Weinberg, evening the score at 1-1.

In the second half it was again Wells who found the back of the net on a give and go from Lauren London in the 60th minute.  Rose-Hulman would hold on for the win.

The Fightin' Engineers outshot the Quakers 17-3.

With the win the team improves to 8-4 in 2016 and 2-0 in HCAC play.  Their next game will be Staruday October 8 at Manchester.  Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.
