Women's Soccer Narrowly Falls at Franklin

FRANKLIN, Ind. -- Franklin College scored the lone goal in the 62nd minute to top Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology 1-0 in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference women's soccer action on Wednesday night.

Taylor McDaniel scored an unassisted goal at the 61:55 mark to provide the lone score of the night.  Franklin improved to 14-3 and 7-1 in league play by outshooting the Fightin' Engineers 17-5.

Five different players had one shot each for Rose-Hulman, with Madeline Romeo, Kristin East, Kirby Kern, Samantha Jacobs and Eliska Saiz firing one shot each.  Clare Lenart led the Franklin offense with five shots.

Defensively, Carli Weinberg recorded four first half saves and Chiarra Franklin had two in the second half for Rose-Hulman.   Lexi Short recorded the shutout for Franklin.

Rose-Hulman (11-6, 6-2 HCAC) has clinched a bid to the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament that begins Nov. 1.  The Fightin' Engineers need a win at Hanover College on Saturday to secure a first round home game in the tournament.
