Women's Soccer Falls at Hanover in HCAC Finale

HANOVER, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology women's soccer team fell in their HCAC regular season finale at Hanover College by a final score of 3-1.  

Despite the loss, Rose-Hulman has qualified for the HCAC Tournament as the No. 4 seed.  The Fightin' Engineers travel to Franklin for a matchup with the Grizzlies on Tuesday.

The Fightin' Engineers fell behind in the first half after a Shelby Adams goal in the 30th minute gave the Panthers a 1-0 lead.  

However, after trailing 1-0 at halftime, Rose-Hulman evened the score in the 52nd minute when junior Madeline Romeo scored her sixth goal of the season.  Corie Ewoldt provided the assist.

Unfortunately Hanover scored just four minutes later to regain the lead at 2-1.  The Panthers got one final goal in the 65th minute, extending their lead to 3-1.

Goalie Carli Weinberg started and recorded six saves, while Chiarra Franklin came in to tally eight saves in the second half.

The loss drops RHIT to 11-7 overall and 6-3 in the Heartland entering the HCAC Tournament opener at Franklin on Tuesday.
