Women's Soccer Battles to Draw on Senior Day

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology women's soccer team enjoyed playing a spoiler role on Senior Day, battling to a scoreless draw against Hanover College on Saturday afternoon at the Intramural Field.

Rose-Hulman prevented Hanover from remaining in contention for the HCAC regular season championship with the result.  The Fightin' Engineers played the Panthers to a draw in nearly every category, outshooting Hanover 8-7 overall and recording a pair of saves compared to three for Hanover.

Prior to the contest, the Fightin' Engineers honored six seniors in Kirby Kern, Madeline RomeoStef PanzenhagenMelissa Rivera, Eliska Saiz and Carli Weinberg.  The six seniors helped the Fightin' Engineers earn a total of 39 wins in their playing careers.

Statistically, Romeo, Samantha Jacobs and Maddy Twetten led Rose-Hulman with two shots each.  Weinberg recorded two saves and the 110-minute shutout in goal.

Rose-Hulman completes the 2017 season at 7-9-2 overall, while Hanover carries a 12-4-1 mark and a 6-2-1 league record into a road contest in the league tournament this week.
